Hypothesis:
It is by shaping the everyday little things that one can influence and contribute in shaping the larger scale of community and society.
The drill and the megaphone should then be found in the same toolbox.
In my opinion fixing at home and protesting in the streets share a common frame of mind in the notion of empowerment.
“The Ark of Many Voices II”, a public living room proposal. If “The Ark of Many Voices” were a piece of corporate public space furniture, what would it be like? Coming up soon…
The video is a collection of footage from “the procession of The Ark of Many Voices”a public space intervention which took place on the 17th of February 2012. The ark was carried on shoulders from St. Pauls to Center Point, drawing an ideal line from the “realm of activism” to the “realm of consumerism”.

THE ARK OF MANY VOICES
What is it?
The Ark of Many Voices is a sound system designed to stimulate thought. It is a symbolic object, a visible common element, an ideal, a materialized discipline.
Who is it for?
For people who feel empowered to gather and commit themselves to a protest.
Why am I doing this?
I am undertaking a further research effort. My aim is to to have a deeper understanding of what really is important to the people who protest.
Project description:
The design of the Ark of Many Voices is informed by the ethnographic research I have undertaken so far and it materialises the issues that my project is arguing.
The design languages of the ark draw upon what I observed in the Tent city and embody its narratives. I chose to work with found materials and rough crafting techniques in order to produce an object which would be familiar within the Tent City landscape. After this show I will take the Ark of Many Voices to the public space in order to see if it works and how it works.
My final aim is to produce industrial design artifacts which address the issue of empowerment.
